Angela's Visit

Hi everyone,
I have probably too many pictures for one blog post so am going to split it into two this month.
I mentioned in my last post that my friend Angela would be coming to stay for ten days. The time flew and now all that's left are the happy memories.
Angela told me her suitcase was over the limit on the way here and I can see just why that was as she spoiled me with some lovely gifts some of which I will show you here.

As a belated birthday gift I received this beautifully stitched set. My birthday was way back in December but as you can imagine a LOT of work, both stitching and finishing, went into it. I love mermaids and anything to do with the ocean so I am thrilled with this gift. Good things are worth waiting for!

A few more pictures of the inside of the needlecase and the back side of the stitched pieces. I think you should be able to click on any of the pictures for a better view if you wish.

I also received some Cath Kidston goodies. Love the Stanley fabric :)

this tiny little stitched pillow and a Kelmscott seahorse needle minder

We had a tea party of course with a Queens Coronation theme this time celebrating 60 years on the throne.
I don't know what happened to the pictures I took on that day but I only seem to have these three.
On the menu - Coronation chicken (of course) salad, blueberry and raspberry pavlova and a coffee and walnut cake. All very delicious!

When Angela came last year we both stitched this design
and as neither of us had done any finishing on the piece yet the plan was to make them into flat folds this year. However, I wasn't very patient fiddling about with pieces of cardboard so Angela made mine up for me. I love the way she did the ribbon trim on the top.

The perfect backing fabric.....

Friend Hazel (no blog) stitched this sweet little Christmas ornament for me and Angela brought it over with her.

The backing fabric is just perfect. My family is into ice skating in a big way so this is just the perfect design for me.
Thank you Hazel :)

and while we are still on the Christmas theme this is a free design on this blog
I did the stitching and Angela finished it into a tag for me

Back view

Just one final thing to show you is this little pin book that Angela made for me to fit in with our Coronation themed party

inside

How cute is the bobbin shaped card with the ribbon?

These little pin books come in a variety of designs. You can see more of them here

I think that's it for this post. I will hopefully be back with another post (of my own work this time) in a few days.
Thanks as always for visiting my blog and for your kind comments. Welcome to the new followers who have joined this past month.
I'm glad you found your way here :)

Margaret

What a wonderful reminder of all the great fun we had together only just a few weeks ago :-) Yours and Bob's hospitality is really amazing. You both made me feel so welcome and really put yourselves out to make my holiday very special.

It was so exciting organizing the surprise Coronation party for you, Bob and Sheila. Trying to make the Coronation chicken and the red white and blue pavlova secretly was a real hoot...haha! But the centrepiece was, of course, your amazing coffee and walnut cake. Don't those Royal cake decorations look great!! You spoiled me with so many cakes. I must list them :-) Sticky ginger cake, coffee and walnut, lemon drizzle and lots of scones in between!!

Thanks for arranging the get together with Hazel who does the bead workshops. Making the Patriotic bead fobs just finished our Coronation celebration off perfectly!

I'm so glad you liked the little gifts especially the Mermaid set. I have to say it was one of the more challenging things I've tried to make.

Hazel's little Christmas ornament is lovely and finished so beautifully with that fabric and little heart buttons.

As Ellen said, the best part was the fun we had doing things together ;-)

She tried to be calm and leave things to take their course. I love that! :o) You have some talented friends with lovely attention to every detail. The card with the ribbon is really fun. Tasty tea and a dear friend to share it with. Until next time...

Aaah, you were thoroughly spoilt with all those lovely things from Angela - especially the mermaid set for your birthday - but you deserve them as you are the Hostess with the Mostest :) And Angela too for all the work that went into the Coronation Tea - I just sat back and enjoyed it all. Thank you both :)

Oh Margaret what wonderful gifts and a party to make it extra special. Angela your gift is beautiful, we all know how much Margaret loves mermaids and I know she will treasure it and the memories for years to come.

Hazel what a lovely gift I love the ditsy buttons where the ribbon joins the fabric. I know some none stitchers may wonder why we drool over these treasured momentos of friendship but they are very special. I have a small tuck pillow a gift from Margaret, a small cushion ribboned to tie on a door handle from Nancy plus a few others. They're all on display and each time I see these gifts I think of the one who made it and although we are miles apart and don't speak daily the friendship of that person is special and always will be.

Big hugs to you all ladies

Peg xx

I have just discovered your lovely blog and fell in love with Angela's mermaid set- is there a name of the pattern maker that can be shared or is it one of a kind? ( Lucky friend!)
With thanks,
Jennifer
