I finished some socks!
I've been making things for just about as long as I can remember and one of the first things I learned to do was to knit.
I remember knitting and sewing clothes for my dolls at around age seven.
Later we were taught to knit socks at school. I can't tell you how much I hated these lessons as the yarn was a horrible school grey - very coarse and scratchy.
I had major problems turning the heel and had to take the sock home for my mum to help me.
I never imagined I would ever want to knit socks again but with all the fun, self striping yarns on the market these days I was lured back to the challenge of knitting socks.
This is not my first pair but the first I've finished since setting up this blog.
I have a tendancy to start off with great enthusiasm which lasts until I am midway through the second sock. Then the socks lay around the house for a few months while I forget just about everything about the pattern, how many rows etc.
I'm glad these are done and will probably cast on another pair soon.
I've been baking!

Beautiful Spain
I'm so lucky to have retired to a very beautiful area of Spain.
El Campello is on the Costa Blanca. I believe it is so called for the beautiful almond tree blossoms.
The bitter almond trees have white blossom and the sweet almond trees have pink.
In February the trees are a wonderland of pretty blossom - quite a sight to behold.
Yesterday we went into town and I took a few pictures of the promenade and beach. I also took a picture of the Valor coffee shop which is where I love to drink coffee!
Valor has a huge chocolate factory about twenty minutes from where I live.
The chocolate is second to none and is sold in upmarket places like Harrods in England.
I love to buy a small selection of the chocolates when I am there and yes, that is where the chocolates pictured in my previous post came from.

Chocolate anyone?
I finished Chocolate Shoppe by Little House Needleworks a few days ago.
This was done as a SAL with members from my favourite Yahoo Group For the Love of Stitching.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the piece now that it's finished........ One idea I have is to cover a tin that once contained chocolates It would be the perfect size but first I need to find some good finishing instructions.

Happy Mother's Day!
I'm a New Blogger!
Yes, I’m dipping my toe in the water to see if blogging is for me. I’ve been reading, and enjoying, so many blogs. I’m sure I must be one of the few that doesn’t have one of my own so here goes……………
First a little bit about me. I’m originally from England but now happily retired and living the good life in Spain.
I enjoy various hobbies - counted cross stitch, knitting, crochet, reading and cooking.
Stitching is my first love and I hope to share many pictures of finishes and works in progress here.
