Finally!

When I said I would be taking a short blogging break for the summer I really didn't mean to be gone so long!
Once the family had left I did have good intentions of updating my blog but kept finding other things to do.
I'm finally back now so on with the pictures................

A few weeks ago I received a beautifully stitched and framed mermaid from Nancy.
If you are a reader of Nancy's blog then you'll already know her lovely work so, as you can imagine, I was thrilled to add this new mermaid to my collection.
Nancy added little sequins to the piece for a bit od added sparkle and the frame is one of her vintage finds.

In addition to the mermaid Nancy sent this gorgeous hand painted oyster shell that she found on a visit to Charleston S.C.

The artist has signed and dated it on the back

It's so unusual. Thank you for the lovely gifts Nancy :)

About two years ago I started stitching the Beatrix Potter Sampler as a SAL but it turned into something of a chore for me and has taken all this time to finish.
I stitched it on 36ct antique white Belfast linen using one strand of Vikki Clayton silk in Dusty Rose.

Not a very good picture but it should be clickable for a better view.

I can't tell you the relief now that I'm finished. I think I prefer stitching smaller things these days.

When my daughter was here she saw me doing some stitchery and decided to have a go.
She stitched two small Halloween pieces and I turned them into little pails for the kids to store their treats.

I think they should be able to get plenty in there!

I've made some progress with the hexagons I've been doing in Civil War reproduction fabrics

Finally, a small Stacy Nash Primitives finish. This is a heart shaped pinkeep.
A quick stitch and an easy finish.

Stitched with one strand of DMC on 32 ct Lambswool Linen using fabric from Blackbird Designs Harvest Home line for the backing

I think that's all I can show you for now. There are a few things awaiting finishing that I can, hopefully, show next time.

No nice beach pictures as we have had a couple of weeks of storms and torrential rain. Yes, when it rains here it really does rain!
We're back to the blue skies and sunshine now but I haven't been anywhere to take pictures.

As always thanks for visiting! I hope to be back soon ;)

Margaret

Hello Margaret,

How great to see your lovely posts again. The Halloween baskets are just to cute. I am sure your grand children will love them. Your sampler is gorgeous. And the gifts you received from Nancy very lovely indeed.

The past couple of weeks we also had several bad rain and wind storms and it is still very chilly and wet. WE had a lovely Indian Summer for 1 month and now I reckon we will be most skipping Autumn and heading right into winter. very sad face. Hugs Judy

Hola Margaret! It's so nice to see a post from you. You are very welcome for your gifts, and I'm so happy you enjoy them.

Your Beatrix Potter is gorgeous!, and the color is so soft and soothing. The quilt is going to be a masterpiece for sure, and I love your Stacy Nash heart. The Halloween pails are wonderful, and I can see Dee inherited your stitching talents!

Enjoy your sunny day!

Margaret,
Your blog entries are really worth waiting for and today, when I popped over to see if there was a party at your house i discovered it in full swing :>)
I love the gifts from Nancy - always such a treat. The mermaid framed piece is absolutely gorgeous. The colours are so delicate and soft and the vintage frame is really pretty. I love the oyster shell too. What a great addition to your collection
Your BP is really stunning Margaret. I know you're relieved to have finished it but it really was worth it.
I love the SN little heart - so primitive.
The Halloween pails are just amazing. The kids must have loved them and the quilt is making great progress.

A beautiful collection of finishes. Love the Halloween pails. :) A wonderful present from Nancy too.
Someone from work had been to Spain for their holidays a couple of weeks ago and I don't think they had a very good time because of the rain. It was sunnier in the UK when they went! :)

It's great to see you back after the summer and blogging. From my own experience I know it's hard to get back into the swing of things, lol.
The gifts you received from Nancy are so darling. I love the mermaid on the shell, what a cute idea.
BP looks terrific but I can understand the relief you felt when it was done. My feeling of relief is still ahead of me, there are still a couple of motifs that need to be stitched.
Your finishes are so beautiful. The grandchildren must have loved their treat bags for Halloween. And the Stacy Nash heart looks so very special. I love her designs very much.
Looking forward to seeing what you will be doing with the hexagons.

Oh Margaret, beautiful stitching as always, how nice to have shared the making of the bags with Dee. It's so nice to see you posting your finishes again I always thoroughly enjoy looking at the very professional work you do. I'm making a concerted effort to make sure I stitch daily again and try and keep up with my blog. Life has the most annoying habit of getting in the way doesn't it.
Take care

hugs Peg xx

Hello Margaret,

I just catched up with your blog after some months of absence from my part. You made beautiful bags and mermaids and ... Your 'speed' is enormous! Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it very much.
I am also back in blogland. Due to my health and family 'things' it was good to stop for awhile, but I decided to give it a new start.

Wish you a nice day & hugs, Carolien
